Colorado State University

The next phase of Colorado State University's new Academic Village is under way, and the Hambro® D500 Composite Floor System will be there again, according to Swirnow Structures LLC and its independent affiliates.

The Academic Village is a state-of-the-art learning environment that integrates classroom and experiential learning into the living area. Building D, scheduled to open in the Fall of 2009, will house 219 freshmen students in 2-person suites. The building includes amenities for the students such as study rooms, lounge spaces, laundry, a common kitchen, a meeting room, mailroom and an office area.

"Colorado State University is the 'university of choice' for Colorado residents," says Swirnow's Vice President of Sales John C. Stahl, "and Hambro® is the system of choice for student housing projects. Academic Village is a sustainable construction project that will establish Colorado State University as a leader in environmentally responsible education initiatives. We're proud that the Hambro Floor System was selected for Building D's innovative design."

The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company of Baltimore, Maryland is the construction manager/general contractor on the project; Aller-Lingle Architects P.C. of Fort Collins, Colorado is responsible for the project design; and Martin/Martin of Lakewood, Colorado is the structural engineer.
